“Human Rights at Home: A Deliberative Dialogue on the Legal Rights of Non-Citizen Students in the United States”
The conference will open with a deliberative dialogue aimed at bringing together students, activists, and immigration practitioners to discuss the legal rights of non-citizen students in the United States. This workshop will address questions such as: What are the different kinds of immigrant statuses students commonly might have, and what rights are associated with those statuses? What rights do undocumented students have? What factors can affect those rights? Is it permissible to assist someone who is out of status? To employ someone who is out of status? What kinds of information can an educational institution require from undocumented students, and can that information be shared? To what extent are they eligible for financial aid?
