Integrative Mind-Body-Spirit Social Work Practice

Integrative mind-body-spirit (I-MBS) social work practice is a holistic approach that draws upon indigenous, Eastern, and Western perspectives with the aim of restoring harmony, balance, and connectedness within the individual mind-body-spirit and between the individual and family, group, organization, community, and larger systems. This interactive, experiential seminar will assist participants to develop the requisite knowledge, practice skills, and attitudes to implement the I-BMS social work approach. The centrality of self-care for effective practice will be a consistent theme throughout the workshop.

In this experiential seminar, participants will:

learn the integrative mind-body-spirit (I-MBS) social work approach and related research findings develop skills in mindful practices (e.g., mindful breathing, gentle stretching) to support their self-care and use of the I-MBS approach deepen their holistic engagement skills required for I-MBS practice—presence with the whole self, whole self-inquiry, empathetic connection, and compassionate attention Participants should bring a water bottle and dress comfortably.
