Reflections on Implicit Bias

Wednesday, November 8, 2017
11:00am – 3:00pm

Storrs Campus
Koons Hall Room 228A

Implicit bias generally involves an unconscious assignment of specific qualities or traits (good or bad) to a group.

To participate, individuals are invited to visit the Project Implicit website ( and complete two of the assessments (in Social Attitudes) prior to November 8, 2017.

On November 8, 2017, as part of Together: Confronting Racism, we will host a “Story Corps” opportunity where individuals who completed an assessment can voluntarily share (via audio file) what they learned from taking the Project Implicit assessment.

We ask participants to answer two questions in approximately 30 seconds:

1. Which implicit bias assessment(s) did you take?

2. What, if anything, new did you learn about yourself?

We will plan a follow-up workshop (in January or February) to explore lessons learned from the Project Implicit assessments and the messages shared via the Story Corps audio files.
