An Introduction to Afro-Brazilian Literature

Dr. Da Silva will illustrate the importance of Afro-Brazilian literature through discussing the intellectual works of some representative twentieth-century Afro-Brazilian writers and how their respective literary productions contributed to debates about race in Brazil.

Rosemere Ferreira da Silva is an Associate Professor at the State University of Bahia (Universidade do Estado da Bahia- UNEB), where she has taught since 2012. Her research focuses on Afro-Brazilian Literature. She is currently writing a book about black intellectuals. Dr. Da Silva will be a Research Scholar in the Philosophy Department at UConn from 2017 to 2022.
