Why Europe Went to War in 1914? On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was assassinated, precipitating a crisis that would become the First World War. this session examines not only the circumstances surrounding the assassination, but also how this event went from a regional crisis to a global conflict. Class will be held at Vernon Cottage.
