MCB Seminar Series Presents:

Dr. Uhn-Soo Cho, University of Michigan

"Journey of the ring: the recruitment of centromere specific histone CENP-A at centromeres"

Dr. Uhn-Soo Cho received his bachelor’s in agricultural biology and master’s in biochemistry from Korea University, Seoul, South Korea. He then served as a research associate at the Los Alamos National Laboratory under the TB Structural Genomics team led by Dr. Thomas Terwilliger. In 2007, he obtained a Ph.D. in structural biology from University of Washington, Seattle, where he studied under the mentorship of Dr. Wenquing Xu. For his postdoctoral training he went to Harvard Medical School to work with Dr. Stephen C. Harrison. In 2012, he joined the faculty of the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor of Biological Chemistry and Biophysics where his main focus has been the structural studies of protein-protein interactions. Using structural and biochemical approaches such as x-ray crystallography and cryo electron microscopy, his lab is trying to understand how protein interactions regulates and facilitates biological events and chemistry.

Hosted by Dr. Mellone
