Wearing Nature's Colors

Thursday, October 18, 2018
10:00am – 12:00pm

Edgerton Park Carriage House, 200 Edgehill Rd New Haven, CT US 06511

Gardeners have access to a beautiful range of colors from our garden plants--weeds, too! In addition to flowers and leaves, dyes can be extracted from bark, roots and seeds as well as fungi, ferns and lichens. Natural dyeing is simple, inexpensive and environmentally sensitive, resulting in projects that can be done with children and adults alike. Participants will be given an overview of the history and process of dyeing, and receive a basic instruction sheet and a list of references and suppliers. Everyone will dye or tie-dye a silk scarf to take home.
