There are more and less effective ways of responding to drafts and papers. For example, since line-editing student writing doesn't lead to much learning, what then, should we do? We'll review what the research suggests works better; we'll also explore some lesser known strategies, such as doing audio commentary for drafts and requiring students to do brief self-assessments when they submit their work.
