Interesting questions solved by geometric flows
Hyunchul Jang

Friday, March 15, 2019
12:20pm – 1:10pm

Storrs Campus
MONT 214

In this talk, I will present several geometric questions solved by using the so-called geometric flow. A geometric flow is also known as a geometric evolution equation, that is, a PDE involving a geometric quantity. I will talk about well-known examples of geometric flows and how these have contributed to solving some famous geometric questions: Poincare conjecture, Sphere theorem, Penrose inequality in general relativity, and Yamabe problem.
