Susana Ramírez, M.S. (Physics)from the Departmento de Física at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa; México, will present the following talk, “Electronic Properties of Mesoscopic Rings.” For a single conducting mesoscopic ring we study the effects of delta- or square-barrier impurities on the electronic states in one and two-dimensional nano-sized rings enclosing a magnetic flux. Using the transfer-matrix method for connected zigzagged multi-rings threaded by a magnetic flux the transmission probability and the band formation in this geometric structure are analyzed as functions of wave number k, angle θ of elevation, lengths of the leads connecting the rings, and the magnetic flux piercing each ring. For rings in contact with each other one or more of the resulting resonances in the band energy, implying transparent states, remain at the same energy value for identical-ring and biperiodic-ring geometries.
