Cautionary Tales from Transitional Feminists Travels

Speaker: Prof. Maylei Blackwell of UCLA, Assoc. Professor in the Cesar E. Chavez Department of Chicana/o Studies and Women's Studies Department, and affiliated faculty in the American Indian Studies and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies, will be visiting the History Department on September 23 and 24. Her visit is co-sponsored by El Instituto and WGSS. Prof. Blackwell is the author of !Chicana Power!: Contested Histories of Feminism in the Chicano Movement (2011). Her public lecture will be on "Geographies of Difference: Cautionary Tales from Transitional Feminist Travels". (Tues. September 23) with Q&A and a lavish reception afterwards!
