Stop Mass Incarceration Kick-Off Day Presentation/Workshops

As part of Stop Mass Incarceration Week, UConn School of Social Work students and Hartford Action will host a series of presentations and workshops to address Mass Incarceration in the United States. Presentations and workshops will be held throughout the day on Monday, April 6, 10am-8:30pm, in the Zachs Community Room. Workshops will run up to 45 minutes each with a 15-minute break in between each session. The primary goal of the Kick-Off Day Presentations/Workshops is to take concrete and specific steps to reform our nation’s unfair criminal justice system and address the effects of mass incarceration within our communities and the UConn School of Social Work. Workshop topics will include Mass Incarceration (General Overview), HIV/AIDS & Incarceration, The impact of Mass Incarceration on Women and the Concept of Desistance, Immigration & Incarceration, Children in Juvenile and Criminal Justice, Substance Abuse and Mental Illness in the Prison System, Restorative Justice, and Prison Education Programming.
