As part of Stop Mass Incarceration Week, UConn School of Social Work students and Hartford Action will host a Panel Discussion on Mass Incarceration in the United States on Thursday, April 9, 2015, 6:30 - 9:00pm, in the Zachs Community Room at the UConn School of Social Work.

On this panel, local and national experts, formerly incarcerated individuals, and activists will come together to help initiate and sustain a dialogue on America’s growing prison population and what we can do to help dismantle the system of Mass Incarceration. Aswad Thomas, UConn School of Social Work student and Community Organizer, will moderate the discussion.

Our expert panelists will discuss professional and/or personal experiences related to incarceration, the role of race in our criminal justice system, and the causes and effects of mass incarceration. The panel will be followed by an audience Q&A. The event is free and open to the public. A light dinner and refreshments will be provided.
