Arbor Day

Wednesday, April 22, 2015
11:00am – 2:00pm

Storrs Campus
Intersection of Fairfield Way and Hillside Rd.

Hey UConn, remember when we won the Tree Campus USA Arbor Day Contest? Well we did. So this year we are celebrating UConn trees in a big way!

UCONN will be spelled out in front of the U in FLOWERS!

Student activities and Dining Services are baking a 32 SQUARE FT. tree cake (tree shaped, not flavored). So stop by for a slice and stay for the tree love.

There may be some other visual surprises as well...

11 am -2 pm - EcoHusky Clothing Swap! ( Earth Day Spring Fling 2015 )

11am- In front of the Union (across from the field house) we are planting over 1,200 blue and white pansies, spelling out UConn. We need your help planting!

12pm- At the entrance to Fairfield Way, we are planting and explaining the history of a beautiful Franklinia tree (named after Benjamin Franklin).

12:30 - Ever wanna learn how to prune a tree? yes? no? Either way, join UConn facilities for a free tree pruning demo.

1 pm- Katherine Dugas, CT Agricultural Research Assistant, will be speaking about the Emerald Ash Borer invasive species currently plaguing CT trees. YIKES!
