The Out to Lunch Lecture Series continues the semester with a presentation by Ace Ricker, entitled, "Getting to Understand the Unfamiliar: Reflection of a Trans* Man."

We as individuals face so much judgment from each other on a daily bases, and even more so from ourselves. Think about waking up each morning to find yourself staring at a stranger’s reflection in the mirror, and then having to walk in those shoes; I was once that individual, an at times still am; I am a transgender male. I will be going over hardships transgender people face everyday of their lives; from being in the workforce, to finding housing, and getting health care. Going over pieces of my personal story, as well as painting a picture of the many different “ Levels ” each individual has, that merely looking at a person, can not show the depth of one’s reflection.

Ace Ricker has been a transgender advocate since the age of fifteen; doing testimonials for house bills such as, HB 6599 ( An Act Concerning Discrimination ) and HB 7006 ( An Act Concerning Birth Certificate Amendments ). He has spoken at many different forums; such as Yale Divinity, Rutgers, and several others; spreading awareness and education about the LGBT community. Ace has an Associates degree in Business Administration & Management. While in college he was the president of U.N.I.T.Y ( G.S.A ), as well as the president of the National Society of Leadership and Success for our college chapter. Ace’s other interests are photography, writing, singing, and anything that involves the outdoors.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunches.
