The seminar is cancelled and will be rescheduled later in the year.

“Shedding New Light on Photosynthesis”

In the primary steps of photosynthesis, light-harvesting antennae arrays gather solar energy and transfer it to reaction centers where it is converted to stable charge separation with high quantum efficiency on ultrafast timescales. Multidimensional electronic spectroscopy has recently emerged as a powerful method for following ultrafast processes in real time to elucidate the structure−function relationship in photosynthetic systems. I will discuss aspects of multidimensional spectroscopy that make it highly suited to probing energy and charge transfer processes in light-harvesting materials. I will also outline future directions for the field of multidimensional spectroscopy.

Refreshments will be prior to the talk, at 3:30 p.m. in the Gant Complex, Physics Library, Room P-103.
