Responding to human needs and advancing social and economic justice are at the center of social work practice. Both require awareness of historical and present-day issues and the ability to work effectively in the context of a wide range of human differences, disparities and injustice. Responding to these challenges requires culturally competent social justice practice—working effectively in the context of difference while confronting systems of dominance and their effects.

This interactive seminar will provide participants with strategies for increasing capacity to engage in culturally competent social justice practice and to provide leadership in their spheres of influence. Participants will have opportunities for self-assessment and creating individual action plans for ongoing professional development.
