***About the Speaker***
William Fisher, PhD, is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Western Ontario and a Research Affiliate at the Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, and Policy, University of Connecticut. Dr. Fisher has been a National Health Scientist, HIV/AIDS, Health Canada, and he is a Fellow of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the Society of Experimental Social Psychology. He has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, Archives of Sexual Behavior, and the Journal of Sex Research, and received the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. Dr. Fisher has published over 250 papers concerning the social and psychological determinants of sexual and reproductive health behaviors, emphasizing theory-based research concerning prediction and promotion of HIV/AIDS preventive behavior in collaboration with Dr. Jeffrey Fisher. His work has been supported by the US National Institute of Mental Health, the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Canadian Institute for Health Research over the past four decades.
