EEB CESE BioBlitz at Greenwich Point!

Saturday, September 16, 2017
10:00am – 3:00pm

Tod's Point, 1345 E Putnam Ave, Old Greenwich CT

Greenwich Point Park, Greenwich CT

How many species of animals and plants are living at Greenwich Point Park on Long Island Sound? You might be surprised to find out on September 16th when the public is invited to the 2017 Greenwich Point BioBlitz!

Come explore the Park's beautiful and diverse ecosystems from 10am to 3pm with scientists from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, the Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering, and other Departments at UConn.

BioBlitz is a unique scientific endeavor, with a fun all-ages educational event rolled in! For 24-hours, experts come together in a race to see how many species can be found and identified in a public park. On Saturday, people of all ages are invited to come and learn more about the Park’s plant and animal life, participate in activities, and interact with scientists and naturalists from across the state. Bring a lunch and enjoy the large sandy beach, great walking trails, hands-on activities, and popular Seaside Center.

The Greenwich Point BioBlitz celebrates the collaborative partnership between the UConn Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering, and Town of Greenwich, launched in 2016--to provide science-based information on the ecology and natural resources of Greenwich and Long Island Sound. Hosted by the Town of Greenwich Shellfish Commission and the Greenwich Conservation Commission, with local organizations including Audubon Greenwich and The Bruce Museum, this special Saturday public event is FREE and open to the public.
