A Nation of Immigrants: A Uconn Reads Salon at the Benton

Friday, March 2, 2018
5:30pm – 7:00pm

Storrs Campus
The Benton

In line with the vision and mission of UConn Reads as a program intended to “gather together students, staff, alumni, faculty, and state citizens alike…who relish intelligent, respectful debate,” and situated within the context of national conversations involving building walls, shutting down borders, and increased reform, this upcoming year’s theme is aptly titled, “The Conundrum and Challenge of Immigration.” Drawing upon this year’s UConn Reads theme, this salon considers the past, present, and future of America via immigrant accounts and refugee stories. At stake in this discussion is a contemplation of the role immigration continues to play in contemporary U.S. politics and culture.

Attending this event will count towards Sophomore Honors.
