MCB Seminar Series Presents:

Dr. Christine Beck, The Jackson Laboratory

Seminar Title: Repetitive Sequences and Genomic Plasticity

Christine Beck, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Genetics and Genome Sciences at UCHC, is a genomics expert in transposable elements and their impact on human disease. Dr. Beck joined the Jackson Laboratory as a joint appointment in the Summer of 2017. She completed her postdoctoral work as a research fellow at Baylor College of Medicine in the laboratory of Dr. James R. Lupski, M.D., Ph.D. She was recently awarded a K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of General Medical Sciences. Dr. Beck earned her Ph.D. in human genetics at the University of Michigan, and her B.S. in biochemistry at Iowa State University. Her research identifies regions susceptible to non-recurrent human structural variation and investigates the enzymes that limit or promote transposon-mediated rearrangements via computational, molecular biological and genomic techniques.

Hosted by Dr. R. O'Neill

Please join us for light refreshments in the BPB lobby at 1:45.
