The Global Health Symposium Organizing Committee will be organizing UConn's second global health symposium, "Winning the Birth Lottery: Globalization and Health." We will be delving into how the location where an individual is born largely determines his/her access to healthcare through political, environmental, and socioeconomic factors. On Friday, March 29, Dr. Kee Park, MD, FAANS, from Harvard Medical School's Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, will be delivering a keynote address on his work in pioneering global neurosurgery and in providing humanitarian aid to North Koreans while navigating geopolitical factors. On Saturday, March 30, Professor Sarah S. Willen, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor of UConn Anthropology, will deliver a keynote address on migration as a social determinant of health. We will also have a variety of engaging opportunities to learn about global health and to network through breakout sessions, interactive activities, and research presentations.

This is an Honors Event. Categories: Academic & Interdisciplinary Engagement or Multiculturalism & Global Citizenship. #UHLevent372
