Presenting Science to the Public in a Post-Truth Era A multi-speaker event sponsored jointly by Science of Learning & Art of Communication (SLAC) and the University of Connecticut Humanities Institute (UCHI)

This event will feature a series of international speakers who will address challenges in presenting science to lay-audiences in the current culture of “opinionification” of facts. In particular, experts will consider the public trend in discounting data delivered by experts as “opinion” or fake news, why this occurs, and how scientists can most effectively reach lay audiences. Three speakers will be featured (see below), followed by an Open Panel in which speakers will address questions from the audience. Speakers: Dr. Mike Lynch (University of Connecticut) Dr. Tali Sharot (University College London) Dr. Asa Wikforss (Stockholm University)
