UConn Summer Speaker Series: Building Entrepreneurial Teams and Advisors

Tuesday, June 18, 2019
6:30pm – 8:30pm

Stamford Campus
Art Gallery

What if you are asked to be a part of an entrepreneurial team? Venture capitalists always state that they invest in teams/people not ideas. What does that really mean? How do you build an entrepreneurial team? What is the role of an advisor? What is the difference between a Board of Advisors or a Board of Directors? David Noble will lead a discussion into what it means to build an entrepreneurial team and how to actually go about it. Moving from Founding Team to initial employees to advisors in a manner that allows the inexperienced entrepreneur to begin to take action.

Speaker Bio David was appointed the inaugural Director of the Werth Institute in January 2018, and previously he served as the co-director of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Consortium and the Xcite: Women in Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Conference. As a faculty member in the School of Business, he teaches courses on technology innovation and entrepreneurship. David is an active mentor at UConn, and has recently founded Zatoichi Co., a blockchain based startup.

Prior to UConn, David was a securities and corporate finance attorney, with experience representing startups from formation through the IPO process. He has extensive non-profit board experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Alabama, a J.D. from the University of Miami, a M.B.A. from the Elon University, and B.S. in Political Science from Northeastern University.
