Algebra Seminar
Topics Around Maximal Cohen-Macaulay Modules over Gorenstein Rings
Özgür Esentepe (University of Connecticut)

Friday, September 6, 2019
3:30pm – 4:20pm

Storrs Campus
Monteith 313

Since I am a new postdoc in the algebra group, I will present some topics around my research interests. The talk will start with some classical theorems from commutative algebra, homological algebra etc. Then, we will focus on the theory of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over Gorenstein rings and Tate cohomology.

The first problem I will present will be on the annihilation of cohomology. I will describe the cohomology annihilator ideal and give a complete picture in dimension one. This problem will lead us into a discussion of noncommutative resolutions. The second problem I will present will be motivated by this discussion. In particular, I will talk a little bit about tilting and dominant dimension in the MCM category.

I am hoping that all will be accessible.
