ORISHA DEVOTION IN BERLIN FOCUSES ON BERLIN’S BRAZILIAN COMMUNITY THAT PRACTICES CANDOMBLÉ AT THE FIRST CANDOMBLÉ HOUSE IN GERMANY FOUNDED BY MURAH SOARES, AND ON THEIR COLLABORATION WITH CUBANS. IT CELEBRATES CUBANS AND BRAZILIANS KEEPING AFRICAN RITUALS AND PERFORMANCE ALIVE IN A NEW DIASPORA. A Q AND A WITH THE DIRECTOR WILL FOLLOW.

RICARDO BACALLAO IS A CUBAN FILM MAKER WHO GRADUATED FROM NYU’S FILM PROGRAM.

HE HAS MADE SEVERAL DOCUMENTARIES INCLUDING SHORT RADIOGRAPHY OF HIP HOP IN CUBA (2004), THE MAJI- MAJI READINGS (2006), CUBANS AT THE EDGE OF THE BERLIN WALL (2017), AND AMIR VALLE : LIFE AND COHERENCY (2018). HE RECEIVED AN EMMY AWARD FOR THE SERIES NUEVA YORK (CUNY TV) FROM THE CITY OF NEW YORK. HIS CURRENT FILM PROJECT IS "RUDOLF DÖRRIER, LIFE AND LEGACY. "
