An Intro to Data Visualization - Day 1

Friday, July 16, 2021
4:30pm – 7:00pm

Other
Online

The course will begin by exploring why understanding the fundamentals of data visualization is vital for both data consumers and creators alike in our increasingly-graphical world. Students will learn how to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the data visualizations they encounter in order to better process what is being presented to them at work and through the media. They will be introduced to the narrative-centered process of deciding which data visualization approaches to choose for different kinds of data, including when to employ common data visualizations like data tables, graphs, maps, and animations, and when to, instead, simply use written text. As the course proceeds, students will also learn some basic visualization skills through hands-on exercises from within commonly available software packages like Power BI and R. with Jake Soffronoff Register at:https://secure.touchnet.com/C21646_ustores/web/store_cat.jsp?STOREID=60&CATID=375
