The Diverse Perspectives in Digital Media & Design: 2021 Speaker Series presents: “Summertime” Virtual Red Carpet and Festival Screening Saturday, April 24, 2021, 6:30 PM, EDT Featuring Q&A with “Summertime” director, Carlos López Estrada And actors/poets, Raul Herrera Jr. and Madyson Park on the virtual red carpet As part of the Diverse Perspectives in Digital Media and Design: 2021 Speaker Series, the “Summertime” virtual red carpet and festival screening will showcase the independent film almost three months before the national release date in July 2021. The film premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and will have Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco opening July 9 and a worldwide release July 16. Variety Magazine praised “Summertime,” saying it was Estrada’s “hallelujah to L.A.” About the Film: “Summertime” is an ensemble film featuring poetry and performances by 25 young Angelenos, in stories that intersect and intertwine as they make their way around the city on a hot summer day. A skating guitarist, a tagger, two wannabe rappers, an exasperated fast-food worker, a limo driver - they all weave in and out of each other’s stories. Through poetry they express life, love, heartache, family, home, and fear. One of them just wants to find someplace that still serves good cheeseburgers. The film was developed by 27 young poets, many of whom are in high school or college and have never written a movie before. https://gooddeedentertainment.com/Summertime/

About the Director: Carlos López Estrada won a Latin Grammy in 2012 for an animated video he filmed in his garage. This established him as the youngest director to win a Latin Grammy. Estrada’s diverse body of work includes animation, live theatre, music videos, commercials, and narrative projects. His recent projects include the Sundance Opening Night film “Summertime” and the Disney blockbuster “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
