Topic:

Transitional Justice & Memorialization: Architecture, Memory, Truth

Description: Sergio Beltrán-García will speak on the role of architecture in developing processes of memorialization for victims of mass human rights abuse.

Sergio Beltrán-García is an architect, activist, and researcher who engages with the aesthetic and political practices of truth elucidation, judicialization, and non-repetition of human rights violations by using memory as an entry point. A researcher with Forensic Architecture, Sergio works closely with victims of human rights violations, their advocates and communities to develop radical and innovative memorials which open, rather than foreclose, avenues to transformative justice.
