In this workshop we will explore social trauma informed healing frameworks, perspectives and pedagogies to begin a deeper inquiry into the complex ways in which collective trauma manifests in the body, in our interactions with others and the “other” in our everyday lives. During this interactive, experiential session we engage in embodied antiracist contemplative practices including but not limited to movement, meditation, reflective writing and more. This workshop is followed by “Deepening the Conversation: embodied trauma & embodied wisdom” at 11:00 a.m., which is centered on selected readings by Resmaa Menakem, Rhonda Magee and other authors. Participants are encouraged to register for both the teaching talk and the related conversation, but it is not a requirement. Topics that may come up include: ● trauma-informed/healing frameworks ● contemplative practices ● critical pedagogy and queer theory frameworks ● processing and healing from pandemic trauma Register - https://fins.uconn.edu/secure_inst/workshops/workshop_view.php?ser=2011
