PoliSci Chats: Matthew Leep, Cosmopolitan Belongingness And War: Animals, Loss, And Spectral-Poetic Moments

Matthew Leep will discuss his new book, Cosmopolitan Belongingness and War: Animals, Loss, and Spectral-Poetic Moments. With a focus on the Iraq War, the discussion will consider how cosmopolitan thought and poetic practices might attune us to interspecies belonging and nonhuman losses in war.

Matthew is a Senior Instructor of Political Science at Western Governors University. His research explores questions about human-animal relations, war, and Israeli-Palestinian politics. His work has appeared in Millennium, Cooperation and Conflict, Politics and Animals, Democracy and Security, International Politics, and British Journal of Politics and International Relations.
