"Is Self Reference Possible?"
Yes, but under a certain natural conception of what expressions are, far harder to achieve than one might have thought. I will argue that self reference cannot plausibly be taken to be possible without making substantive - and somewhat controversial - assumptions concerning the role of quotation, the nature of definition, and the general form of meaning and semantic explanation.
