Hosted by Sarah Hird
"Environmental bacteria in host interactions: evolutionary consequences and host impacts"
Summary: Many environmental bacteria interact with animal hosts to varying degrees. Here I will discuss the diverse consequences of these interactions across hosts, such as in bioluminescent symbiosis with fish and in insect-microbe systems.
Bio: Tory Hendry is an evolutionary biologist and microbiologist who studies how host interactions shape the evolution and ecology of bacteria. Tory earned a BA in Biology from Williams College and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Arizona and as a USDA NIFA Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley before joining the faculty at Cornell University.
